    VW MK2 Coolant leak

    Hey Guys,
I had a quick check underneath my car and have found a slow coolant leak. I could see any signs of leaks from the top of the engine bay. Has anyone else had a similar leak or suggest where I can start looking?

    Thanks in advance.

Flange on the end of the cylinder head would be my guess.

While you've got it apart, flush all that green coolant out and put the proper pink VW stuff in.

I actually changed both coolant flanges recently as they where both leaking and they are bone dry now. Could it be that it could just be left over excess coolant from the repair? The repair was done about a week ago but I haven't driven the car around since then.

Yeah I know i should have put the pink stuff in, I had heaps of the green left and wanted to get through it

    Green will rot everything out.

Maybe give that area a good hose down?

Give it a good clean, then do a pressure test. It'll easily highlight where is leaking coming from
Don't be too fuzzy about green/pink coolant, I've never have problem with green coolant.

Looks like it was just old coolant residue. I've been checking it the last couple of days and it has been warm and its dry as a bone

I might have a small power steering leak though.... All part of owning a MK2 lol
