A bit of progress, today i machined out the manifold flange to mount to the cylinder head. Its out in 12mm thick mild steel plate and is match ported to the head.

For those who are interested i match ported it by doing a simply process. With the flange outline and bolt holes machined i bolted the flange to the ported head on the car with a thick layer of silicon on it. I sprayed some wax onto the head to act as a release agent and let it set. Upon removing the flange the exact outline of the port shape is left on the flange, i then scribed carefully around the port shape and machined the ports out.

I machined up the exhaust flange for the outlet of the turbo, two ports will be used one for the turbine and the other for the wastegate. Ill manufacture a plate to go in between them both to seal. The turbine downpipe will expand quickly form 2 1/4" diameter out to 3" as is the rest of the exhaust and the wastegate pipe will be 1 1/2" exiting straight down below the engine! screamer pipe!!!:biggrin:

Some more progress today, i manufactured number one cylinders piping to the turbo.

This is where it starts getting a bit tricky making manifolds, i am going to make each cylinders piping the same equal tuned length 4 into 1 with a rotary collector at the turbine inlet. A rotary collector utilises the firing order of the engine 1,3,4,2. With this design the exhaust gas spins around in the collector drawing the gas out of the next cylinders pipe. Good 4 into 1 extractors are designed this way.

Number one cylinder is obviously the furthest away from the turbo in this setup and each runner following will match its length. This pipe has 8 seam welds each one is "V" prepped, welded and internally ported out so no airflow obstruction is present.

Thanks Jarred, theirs no reason why you cant build these things yourself, You did a great job spraying your mk1. The tooling is the expensive part really. I paid $5500 for a great ac/dc TIG welder and its the best for all welding jobs car wise.
