    My mk2's

ive been thinking about getting a newer car for a while as a daily and have the flash put on club reg, i was thinking golf...

this golf gti mk2 popped up on the luft and i pretty much jumped on it!
flew down on thursday at 6am, got the car at 8 and away we went.

had a slight problem with the battery (it **** itself) and it feels a bit funky in the steering but im sure a alignment and once over by the mechanic will soon sort it out. burns a bit of oil too.

plans are to find some cool wheels for it, got a bit excited last night and bought coilovers for it and then add a few nice touches and drive the **** out of it!

heres a few ****ty iphone photos of the trip

    big merino

    dog on tuckerbox

    plenty of piss breaks

and now home where she belongs

    nice purchase! and color!

What u did, is exactly what i did in Feb11. Flew to Melb, drove back to Sydney with a MK2 GTI... bought mine without a test drive, wasnt sure if it was safe to drive the distance, but it did...

this is what it looks like now:

Cheers guys, just a quick/dumb question. How hard and how long is it to install coil overs on these? I've got some coming in the mail

nice pick!! good to see you had a good trip

depend on what your like with tools
allow yourself a day, but realistically should take about 3-4hours.
rears are dead easy, fronts can be a real pain - especially if the top nuts have siezed!!!

yeah righto, i should be right with it.
just need to sort out blueslip and then ill start to mod it

but so far its been getting me to work and back ok. burns a bit of oil/leaks a tiny bit. looks a bit oily around the top of no.3 spark plug, so ill have to suss that out.

and is it true that the radiator is supposed to be slightly wonky? like it doesnt run parallel to the grill

Yeah it doesn't run parallel, designed like that.

not much appearance wise has changed at all lately, but i did just get the golf back from European Auto centre in newcastle. after a pretty labour intensive session done on it, the golf now doesnt leak oil! which is great.
a few things a got fixed were:
    - rear main seal
    - sump leaking
    - oil pressure switch leaking and ****ed
    - tie rod end
    - gear box bushings

booked in on friday for a wheel alignment and it should be running heaps better.

i still want to do all this:
    -replace all leads
    -new plugs
    -get my stockies widened
    -install coilovers
    -and smoked spottys

but thats all gonna happen after the blueslip

now im gonna go for the blueslip soon but my number plate lights arent working. does someone have a wiring diagram i can get my hands on? the bulbs are fine. they just seem to be getting no power.

and just another question, does anyone know of some good places that widen steel rims?

    cheers.
