Wiring always seems just that bit too hard to me LOL. Big props to you, I'd love to do this to a MK1, I imagine it would be much more complex though.

yeah mk1 would be pretty hard, you have to make up all the engine mounts etc. and the wiring would be way harder than the swap into a aussie mk2 which is considered plug and play. and you would have to upgrade the brakes etc on the mk1. wheres you can use the whole rear axle and front subframe on the mk2. 1.8t would prob be the best swap for a mk1 i reckon.
but i just love the sound of the vr6

They certainly do have a good note
yeah later on i will be setting up a butterfly valve in the exhaust so i can have it quite when i want and loud when i need it to be. i have a great system on my mk3 vr but it gets droning sitting on 80kmh.

Does the butterfly minimise the drone? I'm getting my exhaust done on the VR shortly, how does it work?
not really , its just so you can have a full exhaust thats nice and quite , and then dump the exhaust before all the mufflers if you want it loud. its like the flapper on the r32's etc.

Sounds good, I'll look into that
I'd be interested about setting getting a butterfly valve or similar for my exhaust,
I'll be interested to see what you come up with.
