Mk2 golf GTI slowly getting there

So I got this nearly 12 months ago and have been meaning to start a build thread.

Anyway here she was when I got it.... Rough as guts

I have pretty well just spent most of the year tidying up the outside and getting her running a bit better

    her is the progress

    Front bar resprayed

painted the red on the grille

replaced the rear bar and painted it

Sitting on Hottunings coil overs and painted up the rims and dress rings

Here is the inside after a seriously good clean up

Next on the cards is some engine work (just got a worked head and am looking to swap it on) and some more bits to fix up the outside.

    I remember you!
You've brought this car a long way, that interior is quite nice too.
Keep us updated, particularly the worked head if you use it haha.

Cheers mate, I haven't gotten as much done as I'd like to but this is a low budget project
The head has had a port and polish, new valves, springs and seals. I also just got a stock airbox as I wasn't a fan of running a pod out in the open :-/
Just waiting on a K&N filter for it.

Engine needs some work and I'm still tossing up whether I should bother or swap it for something else.

I think most MK2 owners try not to go over board with money, but.....

I'll just put 2c of my experience in,
My MK2 has a 2L 8v in it and its pretty good for city/town traffic, little bit more toque, but not very revvy.

K&N panel filter in mine has surprised me with the increase in fuel economy/slightly more hektick intake sound haha.

Pull out your airbox and tap the intake pipe put with a mallet.

That'll give you breathe and induction noise as well.

    How's the drivers seat bolsters?

Thanks for the tip, I've just pulled it out
The drivers seat is in pretty good nick, no actual rips just the foam underneath is a little worn. I'm going to pull both fronts apart and swap the bases over so I get more life out of them

I have been wishing for a set but the funds just aren't there for something like that :-/
Family commitments are a bit high right now, maybe later in the year.

I just have to settle for the painted stock rims for now.

---------- Post added at 03:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:58 PM ----------

I painted the red stripe by hand with a songwriters brush using some 2k red I had already, and the coilovers are pretty good for the money, the are stiff but it's not that different from the stock ones
