Congrats, engine looks like it was meant to be in there.

Small update, dash is back in for good. Had to fibreglass the drivers side air duct as it was hitting the bulkhead. Now just plugging all the dash components back in, no issues at all. For anyone interested in a mk3 dash swap, I attached a picture of how tight the fit is... Toit!

Cheers, as controversial as it is, definitely built to go in the mk2!

Plugging away on the interior. Had my first misfit from interior and that was for the gear stick surround, you can see from the bracket I made that the dash is too close to the gearstick and also high from the tunnel. Not a big deal, just the way it has to be with the dash swap. Also trimmed my A pillar pieces so they now fit nicely against the dash!

Few pics of where I am at, rest of the dash put together mostly and also carpet and rear seats in. Scrambling around under my house for what to put in next lol.

    Cheeers,
    Thomas

Thanks again, yea I was a bit annoyed it wasn't black for a while but now I'm spraying the car a blue colour, actually works out pretty good.

    Update: 22/01/2022

Had a big last couple of days. I'll start with recovering the head liner with dad, which worked out great! Remembering that this roof liner is a mixmatch of the 2 and 4 door liners, I am absolutely stoked with the result. Love how black it is and love how it looks in the golf, no problems at all.

Next up was all the yucky creme trim that I have. I tried dying it but that didn't work so plastic dipped it and looks nothing different to my black trim, stoked again!

I was missing the carpet that surrounds the rear towers but turns out the mk3 one is basically exact same, lucked out there a bit!

Rear carpet is in, wiring is all run through nicely, this has been the most enjoyable part of the build for sure! Enjoy the photo dump.

    Cheers,
    Thomas

    Update: 29/01/2022

Passenger seat in, took the metal frame base from the mk2 seats, took the foam base with cover from the VR6 seat and swapped them over so the VR6 seats can be fitted in the mk2. Drivers side seat needs repairs.

Rear door cards ready to go, they look awesome. Think I owe the old man some beers!

    Update: 04/02/2022

Made a change from the mk2 rear seats to the mk3 ones. Mk3 seats required a few brackets to be installed so had to put few more rivnuts in. Then also cut up the plastic trim a bit to make it fit. This was a dog of a job, horrible trying to line everything up by yourself! But the interior looks awesome now with the door cards in.
