It sounds as if the car was an import?

If from the UK you can do an HPi check which may elaborate more, particularly if involved in any serious crashes (V23 Marker)

Also, I have upgraded my 8v one piece legs to 16v 2 piece with Corrado brakes, so you can't really go off that. If it's an import, then all matter of abortion work could have happened to it. My small bumper had a big bumper kit on it, bee sting Antenna, manual windows. But I know of some that were there with late doors on early cars, and 16v conversions. So unfortunately, the only way to find out is via the vin. From memory, you can go to eurocarparts.co.uk and input the vin. This should come up with the details of the car. If you have the old rego, even better.
