    Selling car via PayPal???

Hey guys I've got my car up for sale and a guy has offered to buy it from me through PayPal... Just wondering what I should do? Should I say no and just say I want cash? What are the risks of selling my car through PayPal?? Thanks in advance guys, Mac

ABSOLUTELY NOT. As soon as you hear "PayPal" about a car sale, it's a scam and you want nothing to do with it !!!

Tell them "thanks but no thanks." Bank cheque only.

Was it some obscure story about being out at sea and buying the car for their son who is in Malaysia in the armed forces? They get pretty inventive....

One guy told me he could only pay me with PayPal because he was in the Navy and onboard one of their ships. When I told him I used to serve in the Navy, and was curious which ship he was on, he just freaked out. haha!

they do pay you via paypal, collect the car, then lodge a complaint with paypal who immediately take the funds back from you, pending the investigation.

you lose the car and never see the funds.

This is a fundamental flaw with paypal they really need to address

    Here's an idea.

Set up a paypal account with a credit card limit of say $500.

Accept the offer and get the 'buyer' to transfer funds to your paypal, where you immediately withdraw the funds, and then arrange for the agent to collect your car.

then have a couple of fraud cops waiting for the agent's arrival.

and at the same time, paypal cant reverse the transaction on your CC, because its over the limit.

I have a camper van for sale at the moment and almost the moment it was listed online I received an email from an engineer on a boat in Bermuda wanting to buy the van and pay via PayPal...even gave me the speil about how safe Paypal was and how to set up an account.

Again, they had an "agent" who would collect the van.

We picked it as a scam straight away......

Besides...what would someone on a boat in the Carribean do with my campervan
