    MAN TGE Van

I wonder how much of this van is shared with the Crafter?

MAN to extend its product range by light commercial vehicle MAN TGE | MAN Truck Germany

The van was featured on the German TV car show "Drive it" on the community channel. One thing that was featured was the Bostrom type drivers seat that is found in some trucks. The interior was very smart/luxurious with many features that have become normal in the latest VAG cars.

Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

Looks like they only changed the VW grill for a MAN grill.

Isn't that essentially what VW does with MAN trucks in some markets?

I don't know, but it would not surprise me.

I'm sure it's VW product as they own the truck manufacturer MAN. I've followed the new crafter news, since I was interested in getting one as a replacement for my aging T5 4motion, but when they've released the specs I lost my interest in the new crafter.
    The reason?
First, there is a change from the longitudinally fitted engine gearbox to the east/west setup as in the old T5, Tiguan, Golf. To me it's not welcome change. Also, the engine option is only 2.0L TDI. There will be the RWD version with longitudinal setup later, but who knows if it would make it to AU.

I wish they'd kept the old Crafter drivetrain setup, since they're already using the same engine.

2.0 litre in a van that big is a joke anyway , load the thing to its capabilities and I bet it would struggle . I know when VW dropped the venerable 2.5 litre 5 pot in the older T4 they went to 4 pot 2.0 in the T5 and it does struggle even unloaded , I know mine could not pull its own weight backwards up a hill . Result Dual Mass Flywheel is stuffed "sob "I miss the old days with simple things , nowdays DMF DPF DSG EGR MAF all of these three letters bring a smile to your local dealer and a tear to the eye of the owner .

Ford Transit Custom uses AdBlue so at least you don't need to worry about a DPF, easy to keep a bottle of it in the van so you're not caught out.
