people build there cars with intentions to have the edge of the rim flush or even poking out the guards, now when lowering your car to your desired height, a narrower tyre can be used to bypass most, and if not many rubbing issues that would happen with a normal tyre, as for driving on razor blades, yes and no, standard wheels on "normal" cars range from 6-7.5 wide and usually runs something like a 195 to 225 for example,
the whole idea of running wide wheels usually involved anything alot wider than OEM and any tyre you could possibly stretch onto that would be standard width's and higher.....
stretching tyres is a difficult game to play.... and is a touchy subject to some who have not experienced this kind of modding before
