i actually had a look at those mail forwarding companies, and they are not cheap. $150 for a box of items, im not talking 4 rims and tyres, but a box that u would put a few clothes and stuff in.
tirerack charges about $350 for 4 tyres and rims. its gonna be a lot to get the mail forwarding company to send a set of rims to australia unfortunately, thats why i went with performance alloys in the uk

i had a look at amgaustralia web last night and it seems that they have reduced the prices of bbs ch to be more reasonable now.

passionate, which is cool, but if people buy "lesser" equivalents, feeding money into "lesser" companies, then what ends up happening is better R&D and a resulting better product, meaning better competition and... Rota, which is now a "real company" with very good products as far as i have been able to see, online.

besides, if consumers only financially supported existing "real companies", then there'd only be the one stand at SEMA each year :)

People like to rip on "knockoffs" as if they're some horrible crime, and as if Volk/Rays are the only ones with any right to produce a 6 spoke wheel design - i know there are wheel snobs out there and i totally see where they're coming from and why, but i also dont get the replica hate, particularly when many reps seem to be really quite nice (weights and price advantage aside).

it puzzles me to see people rip on cast wheels vs. forged, going on about how cast wheels are "poor, dangerous quality", when:
a) why does one really need forged wheel strength on a road car that's so "about show" that it's far too low to actually "go" on any non-perfect twisty bit of road?;
b) nonsense that cast wheels are weak. there are time attack privateers in the states who vouch for Rota wheels, drift asia championship cars have Rotas on, i've seen heavy R33 GTR skyline with 500+rwkw pounding away on Rotas at a winton drift day without the wheels magically, mystically exploding upon contact the moment the driver moves onto the track, and we all know how trusted and popular the enkei RPF1 is as a proper hardcore performance wheel... and that's not a forged wheel, it's cast.

Not trying to argue/ diss on the wheel guys who value authenticity etc - like i said, i can see where they're coming from and i wont try to deny that a car that's taken care of, dropped low and riding on sweet wheels - they simply look awesome, regardless of lack of spirited (or normal) driveability.

i guess i'm just saying that if you're not convinced of stretching a particular budget, or if your wheels are more about enhancing the car's aesthetics rather than trying to save 1050 grams per corner, then yeah - why shouldnt a good set of reps do the trick?
