Too much smell in my cabin with intake and muffler delete :(

    Hi team,

I have wayyy too much smell coming into my car when my car is doing a DPF regen.

When doing a regen, after my cat back straight pipes and intake, there is a very deep exhaust note which is nice, however on idle, or from the outside, the smell is just crazy!!

Is this normal? it does not smell healthy... and it's leaking into the cabin very bad, what can I do?

noise is normal, smell is not. Is it the new exhaust paint burning off?

With the new intake is the PCV outlet still hooked in before the turbo?

It should smell "hot" but if it smells "paint" or "oil" then you know where to look.

A cat back or pre MAF intake should not cause any issues in my mind.

The smell started with the intake, very subtle, but now with the straight pipes from the DPF it's very very strong.

I am unsure what the PCV outlet is or what it looks like, my intake is the 42DD intake.

There is not paint burnt off on the exhaust, but i will take a picture and post.

I am having trouble identifying what the smell is like, because I am unfamiliar with other smells, is there any way i can compare it to something? is anyone in melbourne able to have a look?

There's a massive drone during DPF regen too

If the exhaust exits at a different point (or in a different direction) than originally, you may get odours via undercar turbulence back to your cabin ventilation.

Another possibility is a leak in the engine bay (or under passenger compartment) because of poorly matched (or fitted) connections.

Else, the intake hasn't got proper connection to crank case blow by gas or DPF.

As it sounds like you're not mechanically experienced, I'd take it to a decent mechanic who can hunt down the problem.

Agreed - take it to a good mechanic, it sounds like theres something disconnected that should be.

Can you guys recommend a decent mechanic in the melbourne area? I have not been able to find one that is experienced with modified VW cars.

The exhaust is coming out of the same place.
