    P0471/g450

    Hi all,

Have had check engine lamp come on a couple of times in 2008 MkV TDI 125KW Golf.

Have scanned with a basic scanner and gotten P0471 with confirmed and pending status.

Check engine lamp has cleared with cycling a couple of times. Now I've cleared the codes.

Have done some searching here and see faults with G450 seem common enough and replacement looks pretty easy. I've inspected the part and can't see any problems with hoses etc.

Is it worth waiting to see if the fault returns, or should I just assume it is on its way out and replace it?

    Thanks.

    The DPF pressure sensor?

If it's logging codes, replace it. I'd be surprised if it's the original one, too.

As ever Umai Naa!! thank for sharing your knowledge and experience.

    Yes the DPF pressure sensor.

I think it's the original - we have had the car since new.

I would ask you if I should buy an aftermarket one or genuine VW part, but I think I know what you will say...

Does the '08 Mk5 have a DPF or it only on the 125KW ?
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

    Hi all.

Bought a new g450. Genuine part from IDparts. Installed it yesterday. For adapting I did the ignition on/off 3 times per Umai Naa!! suggestion elsewhere..

Today on a longish drive the Golf (Mk5 TDI 125KW) put on the engine fault light. Scanner turned up P0473 which I see is exhaust pressure sensor too high. I understand it is a G450 fault too.

Is this a fault you might expect to see if the pressure sensor hasn't been successfully adapted? Is there another manual adaption process or do I need to track down someone with VCDS? Is it possible I have another faulty sensor (I hope not replacing it was a pain)?

    Thanks all.

Well, it turned out the replacement G450 was also faulty. Cost me $350 to find out.
