It's pretty simple to justify the hassle, for once the price of fuel gets ludicrous, given the depression delay in oil and fuel infrastructure at present, and the massive demand spike that will happen in a year or so time when things recover, everyone will be wanting to get as many km's out of each $2.50 per litre they can. My money is on the fact petrol will go over $2 early next year, and keep climbing. In the 2-4 years most people keep newer cars, fuel is going to become a major cost component.
I figure the hassle with a Provent vs preparing for "mad max" times is worthwhile. Heck, come armageddon, you can make your own diesel from the zombies you catch.
