Tyre pressure sensors

Any ideas/suggestions??

Passat fuses are in each end of the Dash Need to open the doors and there is a little slot to put a screwdriver in and pull.

The main ones are in drivers end.

Dont know which one it is as I havent got them. Someone may have a fuse diagram Ive only got a POLO diagram

Maybe decode it with VCDS is a better option otherwise it will keep reporting the DTC.

Hi all

I took the car to VW Artarmon last Tuesday to have the tailgate auto close function fixed again after they "fixed" it last time. Evidently they're trying to do it as a "goodwill" repair as the car is out of warranty. So, the protocol is that they write/email to VWA who then say yes/no to the repair costs. If they say no, the dealer from where I bought the car will have to foot the bill - estimated at $2.5k. If they say yes, they absorb the costs and all is good.

Evidently they sent the request for the good will repair last Tuesday. They have still not had an answer as of COB tonight... One of the guys in the service department let it slip that he has known them to take up to 3 weeks to reply to such requests!

I'm astonished at the lack of urgency here...

Luckily the dealer has given me a loaner (a very tired and unloved Mercedes 350 E), but if it wasn't for that I'd be buggered!

Has anyone else any experience with VWA and their goodwill policies?

Maybe my timing is not the best with all the other DSG recall issues going on etc, but wow, I'm pretty underwhelmed at their response time!

Im just about to pick up a Audi A6 rims for my Passat and I do have the tyre presure sensor in my car, I wonder if I transfer the sensor to the new rims, would it give me a hard time or the same issue.

They can sometimes be a tad tricky to get out. Of my original ones, 3 came out fine and one died....

I purchased 4 newies and they're being fitted with some new tyres today. Assuming all goes well, I'll have a spare or two if anyone needs one.

When purchasing new wheels, it isn't necessary to purchase new pressure sensors as well, unless they're damaged or the lithium battery is approaching its use-by date. They can simply be uninstalled from the old wheels and refitted on the new wheels.

However, manufacturers recommend that the valve stem, valve core, sealing washer, sealing ring or union nut (as applicable, depending on the make and model of the sensor) be replaced anytime the sensors are removed from the wheel. A Google image search for TPMS rebuild kit should clarify things.

Sometimes you can get away without installing the new parts, but they may leak air if they're too worn or fatigued. If rebuilding, do ensure the parts are correct - refer to the dealer if unsure.

Any new, additional or replacement pressure sensors usually need to be registered by the vehicle using a compatible diagnostic tool. A dealer should also be able to perform this.
