    Unhappy Updated Video - EPC & ESP Light - 10 Faults - VW Passat v5 (b5.5)

    Gday all...

I recently bought a VW b5.5 Passat v5 have been having issues with the EPC and ESP light coming on, and the car running like a pig (low/fluctuating revs). I reset the computer and it runs like new, sometimes for a week, other times for a day, other times for a few hundred metres.

I had a local mech run a Diagnostic for me (, and i'm more confused than ever, 10 FAULTS. Can one issue trigger the others and if so which one is the likely cause so that I can get my family mech/dealer to fix it (as the car is still under statuatory warranty).

Can anyone recommend what is the likely cause of all these problems?

    Cheers, Dom.

I would be getting the statutory warranty claim underway if I was you.

These things were reknown for faulty throttle bodies.

Also worth checking all vacuum and breather hoses, and maybe replace that coolant temperature sensor.

This is what it does before the EPC and ESP lights turn on.

This is after (note its me giving it some gas to show how the revs bounce around). At this stage the revs are quite low, and will bounce around and the car runs rough as guts. When i reset the computer, the car drives like brand new. And slowly it gets worse until i get a) fluctuating revs b) EPC and ESP lights.
