Looking to purchase a new R36 sedan.
I have been looking around Melbourne and the dealers appear to be advertising them at approx $65K drive away. When I spoke to one dealer, with no options they quoted me $75k drive away!!!!
So far have seen three "specials" all only with delivery kms at $64k, $65k and $66k all drive away. One black and the other two silver.
Four questions;
1) What can you get these for drive away if you haggle hard? Is $60-$61 possible with no options?
2) Will/when VW pass on the 5% import relief? (others already have, obviously this is a $3k saving)
3) What is the best colour for the R36? I think black looks the best, but obviously the hardest to maintain. The other colour that looks good is icelandic grey, however I have seen it a few times now and it sometimes appears more blue than grey.
4) Do child seats still fit OK? It looks like the bucket seat at the back could cause some issues.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Welcome age7875... anything under $70 with a couple of options is a good price. $65K with no options is about right. Look at the thread her on R36 pricing to see what other people have paid.
As for colours... its a personal thing but I dont think there is one colour you could say is a bad colour in the R36 range!
As for the tariff...good question!!

IMHO all VW dealers in Vic are currently hopeless.
I have been eyeing off a R36 for about 12 months (my lease was up last Feb and again in a couple of weeks), but when ever I visit a VW dealer it takes more than 15 min to get to speak with someone and that is if we are lucky.
Two particular dealers I asked them to look at what is on the water / coming into the country and let me know, giving them both my email and mobile.
One dealer this was two weeks ago and the other on Monday and I have heard nothing.
F^&K I must have left an impression LOL
I always thought a car sales person job must have been hard and they followed through to get their sales but obviously this is not the case.
F&*K them it is my money and if they can't be F*&KED getting info to me I can't be F&*KED giving them and VW my money.
If you are after a sedan I think you have a better chance of getting a good price than a wagon, but I think VW are doing the supply and demand thingy.
They are limiting the number of R36s brought into the country without an order and therefore limiting the supply to keep the prices up.
Good Luck and it would be nice to hear if you make any inroads.
$73640 with RNS-510, MDI with Ipod, MP3 input, tint and buggar all else so your 65K is a bloody great price IYAM.
cheers

Maybe ring some other dealers, eventually you should find one that wants to take your $$$.
And when you do take delivery, make sure you ring up the dealer principal at the original two dealers and tell them exactly why they missed out on making a sale (I'm a firm believer in there being consequences for poor choices).

I don't know where you get $3000 from because the 5% tariff is equal to around 2.3% of the retail price and the tariff is a cost of doing business just like other taxes and charges that Volkswagen cover like the exchange rates, shipping costs, payroll taxes and so forth. All of these can vary dramatically yet they always hold the price.

R36VW, did you get Kufatec BT Plus with voice enabled by a dealer?
If so, how much did they charge for it?
