    R36 DSG/ECU tuning

I've read a few posts on R36 tuning but just thought I would post again to see if anyone has tuned their R36 recently (even though it's fairly minimal at least a 15-20kw increase is still noticble and an improvement on 0-100km times)?

    - Recommended places in Sydney?
    - ECU only remap KW improvements?
    - DSG remap KW improvements?
    - Combined which I am interested in - anyone with Dyno runs/proven 0-100km increase?

    Thanks

Not in Sydney, but DNA offer a tune for the R36 Passat. DNA can send you a laptop and the necessary cable, and talk you through the process (same process the current Polo guys have to do). I have a DNA Tune on my Golf R, and can highly recommend them. Some good info about what you can expect from the R36 in the link below:

DNA can also do DSG remaps, but not sure if the Aust dealer has the tools to do this remotely - you would have to discuss with John @ DNA Aust.

PS - a DSG remap will not give you any kw's. It's the shift points and shift speed that are the main advantages. So instead of rushing to hit 6th gear as soon as the car can (making it feel sluggish because its always in a high gear, the DSG holds a lower gear)

I have a SuperChips tune in my R36 - massive difference in low end torque and mid range performance. Also improved fuel economy too...

And it all has a 100% money back guarantee.

    Works for me...

Is there any risk of damage or premature failure of the DSG if tuning the ECU to get an extra 15-20kw with a bit extra torque?

Thanks for the replies, anyone got a dyno run sheet of the before and after graph/kw increase? Confirmed 0-100km improvements? This has been the main thing holding me back ....doesn't seem to be much feedback from the R36 remaps done by users with the above on paper?

Agree with Timlin! Got the same tune and could easily get 10 l/100km economy driving in Sydney. Cannot comment on 0-100 times as I don't try that in the streets

For some reason the B7 V6 can't be done according to SuperChips. What a shame!

Really...? I find that difficult to understand. Have you spoken with this guy directly?

Peter did my car and Revivor's too, and as far as I'm aware, the B7 3.6 V6 is that same motor as in the R36...? I may be wrong on this and no doubt someone here will know more than me and correctly advise you, but thats my take on it.

Speak with Peter directly, he's a very cool guy and the difference in performance is worth every penny IMHO.

Yep, spoke with Peter & he had to do some investigations & came back & said although mechanically the R36 & B7 V6 are the same, there are some differences in the ECU which he said if done will not provide any real gains & he actually advised me not to do it.

The ECU in the newer cars (B7 model) will no doubt be encrypted/locked which means the hand held controllers that Superchips/DNA Tuning etc use won't be able to communicate with the car. The ECU will need to be physically removed from the vehicle, and opened in order to be tuned.

Cars older than around 2010-2011 did not have this technology in the ECU, therefore are much easier to tune.

My brothers 2012 Skoda's ECU was encrypted, so we removed the ECU and posted it to John @ DNA in Melbourne to be tuned.
