Is it possible to code the stop start to remember the last used state?

    Short answer: No.

There is no current coding available for that. You can buy a "dongle" from places like Aliexpress which basically switch the function off each time you turn the ignition on. I used one for a year or so in my T-Roc (before installing the APR tune). My wife's used one in her A4 for the last 2 (?) years. Both worked perfectly well.

Had a loaner Passat the other week (the dealer bent my T-Roc....sad).....naturally it still had this control enabled.....driving along in the left lane of a dual lane road, slow vehicles camped out in the right lane, car won't go past them on the left....thinking to myself "What is this witchcraft" until I remembered

Was possibly one of the first things I coded in the T-Roc. Amazing how quickly we forget how simple things SHOULD be without the electronic babysitters overseeting us.
    Cheers

So true Doc, my work gives me hire cars when I am away so I have to put up with this witchcraft in the Volkswagen or Skodas I get.
Worst was when I had a T-Roc, had gone into auto mode thinking I was back in the old T-Roc and could not work out for the life of me why it kept slowing down in the centre lane while trying to pass someone in the right hand lane.

Volkswagen - you should allow for this to be an option in the main setting screen. Have it turned on by default if so but allow drivers the ability to turn it off without having to code it.

    On Stop-Start ....

On the facelifted T-Rocs the Aliexpress dongles no longer works as the plugs behind the buttons have changed.

You can however unplug the battery monitor plug on the battery which disables stop-start completely. An error message will appear briefly once per drive in the center of the instrument cluster. No other warning lights.

Alternatively, you can install the OEM+ tune from Racingline (arguably the best out of the box tune available)as it sets stop-start to off as the default. Button retains full functionality if you want to enable it after starting the car.

What makes this tune better for the T-Roc R as opposed to this tune below?

034 Motorsport is a USA company and their tunes are not tested during development on Australian delivered cars. Australian delivered cars and those in USA are often different in specs.

OEM+ tunes are thoroughly tested on Australian delivered cars PRIOR to their release. Many many hours of dyno fine tuning occurs in Australia at the local distributor before release. This I have personally seen and experienced.

I have also heard/read on social media that the 034 tune is less powerful than the OEM+ tune, although have no actual knowledge of this.

OEM+ is also the software VW themselves go to for special projects ...

Edit: note that no tuner is currently able to do a TCU tune on the T-Roc R, so buying an 034 ECU/TCU bundle is useless. (An example of trying to fit a Golf 8 R ECU/TCU bundle onto a T-Roc R without any testing)

Can long coding be used on things such as the phone and how it behaves?

I ask because, the other day I was out driving and a call came through, I pressed the OK button on the steering wheel thinking it would accept the call but instead it rejected the call. In what world would you want the default behavior to be rejecting a call, surely 99.9% of people would accept the call. So apparently you have to arrow to the accept button and then hit OK, just weird programming and extra steps you shouldn't need to do while driving.

Also, I was listening to the radio when the call came in and after accidentally rejecting the call the radio didn't resume and the volume buttons on the steering wheel and the info display were stuck on adjusting the in-call volume, even though the call was rejected and gone. The only way to get the radio back and the volume buttons working for the radio was to turn the info display off and then back on. Now that's just crappy programming!
