That's basically the same as my RS wagon (power and weight)... I wouldn't want it to be any less. The Kluger (I think) comes with a ~200kW option which I had as a rental on our last holiday and it was quite nice (the rest of it was **** compared to my RS).

I remember driving the 4x4 Superb which was only ~104kW and it was noticeably underpowered compared to the then 125kW version. Bigger + AWD + more passengers + only 5kW just doesn't add up.

I've been looking forward to the Kodiaq because I love my RS but will be needing more space for hauling kids and friends when they get bigger but this is a serious disappointment.

It's not all over yet, as others have mentioned they may be intentionally keeping a hotter diesel and Petrol variant for a later release. My Current Santa Fe diesel is still 147kw even being diesel so wouldn't want to lug around a car that size without something equivalent. I would have thought the 162kW petrol would have been an obvious option.

The 176kW diesel won't be coming to Aus any time soon. It's only rated for cool weather climates and Aus is a hot weather country (hence why NZ get it in the Passat and we don't).

The high torque 7 speed DSG is a big plus over the 6 speed and any car/model that includes it will definitely be on my shopping list.

I've also driven the Tiguan with 130TDI and 7 speed DSG and it works really well. The high torque diesel and short shifting DSG works better in the diesel than in the petrol which you have to put the boot in to get it to rev.

I really wouldn't be upset owning a 140TDI Kodiaq. Agree it would be nice to have a higher power petrol option but that's why you have chip tuning I'm still waiting to 100% confirm the 132TSI in the Kodiaq is the 2.0 turbo (same as Tiguan). In which case this is the detuned 162TSI engine and a tune will take this to ~230kW. If they mate this to the 7 speed DSG this will be the model to get.

They have been testing the 177kW BiTDI. Quoting from Autoexpress:"When asked at the Kodiaq’s reveal in Berlin if the Kodiaq could take more power, Christian Struber (R&D for Skoda) said, “I have been driving such a car only last week, and it was fantastic. From an engineering perspective, of course we want to give the Kodiaq even more performance, and we’ve been working on this. Now we must wait for the business case. When pressed on the nature of the engine, Struber admitted, “It was a diesel.” It is believed that Skoda is preparing to fit the twin-turbodiesel from the VW Passat into the Kodiaq."

Adding to that he also said something talking along those lines on an Autogefuhl video.

Pricing for the new Kodiaq is out in the UK: Å*KODA Kodiaq - Å*KODA

It looks like the Kodiaq is priced just under the equivalent Tiguan in the UK, however is a step up in size.
