Make sure you wire it up so it only comes on with reverse gear as there are regs about white lights facing rearward

Don't know about Mazda, but the Tiguan reverse camera is definitely crappier than my 5 yrs old Hyundai Santa Fe

Visibility at night in exactly the same position as the Santa Fe is clearly less visible

Not to mention the crappy out of alignment 360 camera and reverse lines

What is a decent camera $30. Tight ass VW bean counters ...

I know in some cars just changing the license plate light for LED (or a better LED) can really help.

On a $55k car you shouldn't need to do any mods to have the reverse camera operate correctly

Surprised to hear the Santa Fe camera giving better performance at night than the VW.

I’ve driven several Kia/Hyundai models and heaps of VW in the last 3 years and at night the VW (even base mode polo’s) get less noise than the Kia.
The Mazda is just a lower resolution- so loses on both fronts (noise and potential clarity)
My 360 camera is perfectly aligned, too. In your case call the dealer and book in so they fix it.

+1 for the VW camera quality
Significantly higher resolution than any of our previous cars, but agree the reverse illumination could be brighter
