In terms of resale I think these will come down but it's always a supply/demand thing. Almost everyone will want the R-line if they can stretch to it.

There's a couple of 2016 plated R-lines on carsales and the prices haven't dropped that much.

    2016 Volkswagen Tiguan 162TSI Highline 5N Auto 4MOTION MY17 - $53,000 / 16,000 km

    2016 Volkswagen Tiguan 162TSI Highline 5N Auto 4MOTION MY17 - $52,900 / 8,485 km

Actually these prices aren't that far off some the deals I've seen in the How much did you pay for your Tiguan? thread.

The MY18 with the newer media screen is well worth it. I haven’t really looked at the older model but I’m glad our delayed Tiguan is an MY18!

On another note, I think the 20” wheels alone are worth the $4k. The car would undoubtedly corner much worse with the standard wheels. It’s still not a golf R but it handles quite nicely for what it is.

Yes and the R-line gets adaptive chassis control as well which would help with better handling.

There's a fair amount in the R-line pack that would cost significant $ to add to the car later that makes it worth stretching the budget if you can.

With those nice White Side Body Kit, do you need mud flaps to protect the sides skirts from dirt / stone ships from the tyres ?

Normally this stuff is a terrible idea (cost wise) unless you're keeping the car for a long time and wont care too much about resale.

But in this case the R line looks like a different car.
Lesser models look really good on the road but the R line looks amazing.

    I'd go for it.

For the looks alone yes... i'm not a massive fan of the non r-line version. the R line just makes it for me.

Colour coded lower plastics make it look so much better. As I said previously to do this afterwards costs a small fortune. It does make it look a completely different car.

    Hi Tigger,

Thanks for the detail. Looking at what's included in the package, there appears 2 categories

If I was to buy these aftermarket, can you provide a breakdown of the inclusions that make the $10 - $12k ?

    VW R-Line Added Hardware
    • Adaptive chassis control
    • Progressive steering
    • Alloy wheels (Suzuka) 20x8.5" with 255/40 R20 tyres
... (do these make the Tiguan ride lower compared to the 18" standards on the Highline ?)
    • ------------
    • Stainless steel finish accelerator and brake pedals
    • Stainless steel finish front door sill scuff plates with R-Line logo, illuminated
    • ------------
    • Front bumper in R design with gloss black air intakes
    • Lower body side extensions in body colour with black grained wheel arch extensions
    • Rear bumper with sports diffuser in gloss black

    VW R-Line Added Logos
    • Black headlining and pillar trim
    • Carpet floor mats and centre armrest with decorative stitching in Crystal Grey
    • Chrome tail pipe trims
    • Decorative inlays, “Black Lead Grey” to dashboard and door trims
    • Design strip with R-Line logo on the front side panels and front doors
    • R-Line badge in radiator grille
    • R-Line logo on infotainment start screen
    • R-Line multi-function leather covered sports steering wheel with decorative stitching in Crystal Grey & R-Line logo
    • R-Line rear spoiler
(how is this different from the standard spoiler on the Highline ?)
    • Vienna leather appointed seat upholstery# for R-Line with R-Line logo and decorative stitching in Crystal Grey

Just get the R Line package. it's worth it. you won't regret it

But if you do get a Tiguan without it, youll look back, and you will!
