It does seem high, although you seem to be able to get a lot from this engine with minor mods.
I just calculated the kw and nm from the APR data calibrations, in my original post.

So, the stock Tiguan 162TSI actually pumps out 182kw and 375nm on 98 RON and 162kw and 350nm on 95 RON?

Just interested as my 2019 Mazda CX9 gets an extra 16kw for using 98 RON. Goes from 170kw to 186kw, although there's supposedly no change in nm though.
I’d be inclined to assume with 98 the max output is 162kw, rather than 162kw being the minimum. Just going based off drivetrain loss, 182kw seems too generous.

I use both 95 & 98 and my bum dyno cannot tell the difference.

Doesn't it say min 95 on the gas cap?

Actually I think that 180kw on 98 is probably about right. I'm comparing this to tuned Mk1 Tiguans and what they would output on the dyno compared to a gen2 162TSI in stock form. The stock 162 Tig is only a few kwaw down on a stage 1 Mk1 Tig.

Also 0-100 times tend to confirm that to be the case also. So I really don't trust VW's brochure 162kW figure but I have confirmed the claimed stock 0-100 for the 162TSI is pretty spot on at 6.5sec. Which doesn't stack up given that the last of the gen1's with 155kW was 7.3sec. So how can you run almost a full second quicker 0-100 with only 7 more kW?

All things point to 182kw as stock output for the 162TSI Tig. My 162TSI was running at 137kwaw on the dyno and if you factor in around 25% driveline losses for the AWD and DQ500 then the numbers all line up.

    I gladly stand corrected!

No that’s not correct. If you read the fine print you’ll see the 162kW is the VW “claimed” figure whereas the 182kw is the measured figure by APR on 98.

I think if they measured on 95 it would probably run mid-high 170’s.

The answer might lay in how the ratios in the 7 speed are stacked against the final drive ratio, not saying that is the answer but it could be part of it. My 125TDI Superb definitely had way more than 125 killer wasps.

No, it is on the petrol flap, sorry I couldn't resist and will leave the building now.
