Cheers for the videos, love the added shift sounds. Pity about the drone/vibration, hopefully it does settle down once the exhaust carbons up.

Give it a couple of months but more than likely you’ll need a hotdog muffler to take out the noise at cruise speeds but still let a decent amount through at WOT.

Sport mode coming onto freeway auto kickdown 60-130km/hr. Huge dsg farts could be heard in the car, cannot really hear it on video.

Cruising at 80km/hr in 7th. Theres a constant drone, not clear in video.
Is this with or without resonator?

    Standard resonator.

Took the wife and kids out for a drive in it last night and did not get a good reaction hahahaha... The DEA muffler is not suited to the car as there is large resonance vibration through the whole car at low rpm at certain throttle position, shakes the keys and phone/phone holder. Carbon build-up will not solve this....

Going to exhaust shop later today to have the stock muffler put back on and resonator delete done as seems this will give DSG farts and some noise but no drone... Plenty of companies offering resonator delete kits for GTI, no one offering muffler delete kits....

Will get some videos to show the difference.

My Tiguan Sportline is booked in for Resonator Delete this afternoon. I only have 3000ks under the stock muffler so it will be interesting to see how the exhaust develops as I put more ks.

By the sound of it by your videos, the DEA muffler doesn’t do much at all (especially muffling)

Yes its pretty much straight through.

Proper CAT back systems offer no power gain, only noise gain. Downpipe is the biggest restriction in the stock system, which I will be addressing shortly..

Just arrived home from getting the resonator delete. Almost unnoticeable unless you put you foot down. In sports everything sounds much better, sounds how it should have from the factory. Nice little farts on upshifts but haven't heard any crackles on downshifts. I only have 3000ks on stock muffler so it will be interesting to see how that develops. If it doesn't open up in the next few 1000ks I will definitely be replacing stock muffler with a good quality one or putting in a varex variable middle muffler straight through set up.

Had the Dea muffler removed and stock muffler reinstalled. Muffler is flanged so can remove with 2 bolts for some rear muffle delete if I want.

The Dea muffler before I removed it.

Was going to remove the resonator but ran out of time and exhaust shop was trying to work out how to cut and weld in a straight piece of pipe as it would be hard to weld the top section of the pipe as its close to the heat insulation, would have to drop the exhaust to do it properly.. Wondering how the other exhaust shops have done it as the guy I went to does not cut corners and will not a dodgy job with 30 years in the industry.

MK7 Golf R/GTI resonator delete kits from ECS or similar would not work on the tig.

CTS or other downpipes replace the stock resonator anyway so left the resonator in place.

Basically the DEA muffler is a cheap piece of crap from China, its feather light. Was talking with exhaust shop about installing twin magnaflow mufflers in the future, but will be doing the CTS downpipe first.
