    2021 Tiguan R Officially Revealed

    From CarExpert:

2021 Volkswagen Tiguan: Range-topping R on local wish list | CarExpert

"Power in the Tiguan R comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with 235kW and 420Nm, sent to all four wheels through a 4Motion all-wheel drive system capable of shuffling power between not only the front and rear axles, but individual wheels on each axle.It sits 10mm lower than the regular Tiguan range, and rides on 21-inch alloy wheels behind which hide 18-inch brake discs."

I think it looks awesome! What do you guys think??

Agree, and I like it. But the price will be the determining factor. At just under $100K you can have a RSQ3, so a Tiguan R would have to be less than $75K to be worthwhile.

I think/hope high $60k would be a good start with options taking it above $75k.

I like it, thought not a fan of button less HVAC controls.

I do also like they have lit up the USB ports under the HVAC controls. That one of my minor gripes in that it can be hard to see the ports.

Wonder how much more grunt tuners can squeeze out of that engine - I assume it's a tuned up version of the Golf R motor.

It’s a stock tune same as Mk8 Golf R. So whatever tuners can do to the Golf they will be able to get similar numbers out of the Tiguan.

Main difference is the DQ500 gearbox in the Tig vs. DQ381 in the Golf.

I suspect these will be in the mid-$70’s similar pricing differential between the Golf GTI and R to the Tig 162 and Tig R.

Wonder what the quality of the ride will be like on those 21”s?
In comfort mode the 20”s on the R-line are OK, but I don’t think I’d like anything with smaller profile in sport mode...
What size wheel combo on the R Golf?

    Oh that’s nice!

About bloody time... assuming it’s $70k for one in blue, 20’s, Akro exhaust - I’m in!

Though chances of it being released here? I’d guess VWA messes it up somehow

I’m guessing we’ll see them here eventually, but wonder if they’ll be down-tuned for ‘hot climate’...
