    2018 Tiguan 163 Kw service.

I've just downloaded a VW Maintenance Schedule and have a questions on one of the items on the list.
The schedule is not specific to the Tiguan it says " All Models except e- Golf".

One of the items under "Additional Maintenance Items" reads

"AWD clutch : Change fluid (if equipped). - Every 3 years (AWD only vehicles)

Does this apply to the Tiguan?
Is this the Haldex? Can't see this on the list.

Yes, Haldex oil is every 3 years.

    Assuming your car is 4Motion.

    Ok . Thanks for that.
Is that simply a drain and refill?
Or is there more involved? Filter cleaning/replacement?
The vehicle has covered 27,000 km and this is the 45,000 km service.

If you are changing the Haldex oil then definitely remove the pump and clean the mesh screen. These get gunked up at quite low km's and when blocked, they burn the Haldex pump rendering your car as a front wheel drive and an expensive bill to get a new Haldex pump.

There are a few (2 i believe) o rings that will also need to be replaced after removing the Haldex pump.

Here is a link to a tutorial and also this place sell the Haldex oil and the o rings etc you will need.

The key steps are drain, pump removal, filter cleaning, pump re-installation and refill.

Most DIY kits include the necessary bolts and o-rings. I'm not sure if VW actually clean the filter... I suspect they simply drain and refill.

It is well worth doing the filter - there's lots of photographic evidence of the filter being crudded-up out there in the big wide internet.

EDIT: Do'h... two minutes too slow!

They do not clean the filter, hence why so many Haldex pumps die a premature and unnecessary death.

Just in case you are unaware, the VW Service Schedule is 12mths / 15,000kms (whichever comes first).
Based on a 2018 Tiguan 162TSI (possibly first registered in May 2019 for example), you should now be due for the 36mth / 45,000kms service.
Granted, you have reasonably low kms (27,000kms), however specific to your question regarding the Haldex Oil replacement, as stated above, it is due "EVERY 3yrs" regardless of kms... So you will be doing the Haldex Oil replacement in 3yrs time once again, even if you only have 43,918kms by then (if this makes sense)...
    I hope this makes sense...
