    Service decision

Recently got me a 2016 Passat 206TSI and it’s up for service. It’s only travelled 35k klms and its been serviced by VW service dealers by previous owner.
I’m tossing the idea of continuing the trend and take it to cLosest VW service dept or save a pretty penny and try a trusty euro specialist.

Any thoughts and if the latter can anyone recommend a reliable euro specialist in the southwest Sydney Bankstown area. Don’t travelling a bit for a good reputable / trusty mechanic.

VW has 4Plus Care Plans; 4Plus Care Plans | Service & Repairs | Volkswagen Australia

Also, the servicing schedule is 12mths / 15,000kms (which ever comes first).
Given the age of the 206TSI, it SHOULD have done its 1yr / 2yr / 3yr (Haldex) and 4yr (DSG) Service.
If you have missed the 3yr or 4yr Service, you are missing crucial servicing on the Haldex and DSG.

So potentially you are now due for the 5yr / 75,000kms service.
Doesn't matter that you have "only travelled 35k klms"...

Thanks for your input ope126. Based on the log book The car has had 3 services, the first being in 06/18 then 07/19 and most recent 07/2020 which has the Haldex coupling: oil ticked in the service book. I assume that what you’re referring to re haldex service ? Worth mentioning they have all been carried out by VW service dpt and the car is a certified vw used car.

I guess I’m up for a dsg service in this year.

the care plans look like good value. Would you have an idea on rough cost of dsg service from VW ?

Yeah based on that, you would be up for the 4yr / 60,000km Service (DSG) now.
I can not access the Care Plans for pricing as it won't accept my car details as it is not 4yrs old yet.
So I am curious to know what prices they are offering for the 3 future services?

I know the last Service on my Superb was quoted at $835 4yr / 60,000kms, but I purchased the 4yr service pack for $1,600, what a bargain!!!

Would love to hear from you the price at VW!

This looks like a good deal, 25% off for 4 year plan.
But would that cover my next service excl DSG service of course.

Based on that info you vehicle is eligible for the service program.
But without knowing any additional details (and as you mentioned above) the price would not include the DSG Service.
In fact I was able to find the Service Pricing Guide on the VW Website and my upcoming 4yr / 60,000km service is listed at $1,181. So almost the same cost of the 4Plus Care Plan for the next 4yrs...

Might have to look into this further and contact my local dealer to confirm what they actually do.

Possibly just an oil change and nothing else notable moving forward???

But thanks for sharing the price, much appreciated!

My thoughts exactly. Is it worth pre-paying for 4 services when they will just hit you with a major service bill anyway. Unless they use one of those essential services plus and add on the extras ie spark plug change , DSG oil &service costs and pay the difference

Based on my model the website lists the 48 month 60k stand alone service at $1306. Doesn’t not give itemised info nor confirm if the DSG service is included.
Like you my friend I’ll contact their service dept to confirm.

Interesting you superb is quoted at 1186 and my Passat are 1306. Wonder what the $120 difference is on a same platform car. Badge perhaps? Service decision

Funny you say this, I'm almost in exactly the same situation, my 206tsi is due for it's 4th service in the next couple weeks and it's sitting on 37k km. I get mine serviced at Underground Performance in Cheltenham here in VIC, they told me it's due for oil/filter, dsg service, brake fluid change and pollen filter (which I do myself), quote was $799. I don't usually go near dealerships for servicing, unless it's a warranty issue.

$799 is not bad. Been quoted at $1200-1300 from a couple local euro independents. Almost worth the trip to ViC for this
Sorry you didn’t mention spark plugs. That was included in my indi quotes too.
