You can adjust the auto hold release threshold to early with vcds which can make takeoff from an autoheld stop faster

Deffinitly need it inow sport or individual with the drive in sport.
You also need to reselect sport or individal every time you restart the car if you have the sport drive avcitavated in individual. As it returns to the generic normal setting even tho it still shows sport.
This aan be notice in a few ways but the car should start in sport geaebox mode but it doesent.
It's good to see that the on board boost gauge holds 5psi at idle in sport and 0 in drive.
I've done a spoolen intercooler in and out pipework upgrade and a turbo muffler delete and now it sits at 8 psi. It pulleys to 32psi also. Can anyone tell everyone me what there stock one Max boost is? I forgot too look before I upgraded mine. LOL I think I have 1100kms on it.
The boost gauge in the "performance" display on the MIB2 doesn't factor in atmospheric pressure which is 14.7 pounds. So take 14.7 at sea level and that's what your true comparable boost level would be. I think peak boost is somewhere between 16-18psi, so those numbers look right if you add the right correction.
Interesting. Iv never know a gauge to use atmospheric in its differential pressure calculation. Seems pretty stupid if that the case...
That is sort of right though, but my understanding is that it doesn't power all 4 wheels unless it needs to so is really just pushing the front wheels most of the time...? In mine, if the front wheels are on loose metal or wet road markings it slips until it grips. The AWD system isn't instantaneous and you can feel it working it out. I don't think a GTI or Golf R feel any different to the Passat in respect of the DSG response being common in all of them. The AWD just helps once it starts slipping and you keep your foot down and then you don't see the flickering orange light in the two AWD cars ;-)Quote:

But I find sport mode gear box wise a PIA and now have learned how far pushing the accelerator makes the car behave instead in drive. It is very sensitive to how far its pushed down to when it holds gears in drive. Under slight pressure, it won't even change gears it just uses torque to speed up, a 3rd of the travel, it drops a gear and speeds up it that way quickly while changing up gears. More than half pedal pressure it drops gears and holds it until redline then changes.
Still overall while it feels like it takes a while to get going, sub 6 sec to 100kph is still not slow for a large wagon that is under half the cost of an RS4 and has more toys inside. The real beauty of this motor is the torque everywhere though and how it revs out too. Around town the size of it isn't really going to give you Golf R feelings but on long trips this is a very good GT type car and the DCC makes it even more adaptable. As you guys get into more open road KMs I'm sure you won't be disappointed with the gearbox matching etc.
I spoke to my Dealer and he informed me that the Golf R and the Passat 206 are tuned very differently from a standing start perspective. This is to make it more of a 'luxury' vehicle rather than an R style.
I said I didn't buy the 'big' engine for it to be dull from start.
He tells me he has a 'tuning mate' so we'll see what comes of that and what factory warranty comes from it :D
I'm not holding my breath, but I am looking forward to a drive in the Golf R to compare.
It definitely feels like sluggish clutch engagement because if i hit it hard it revs to 2500-3000 and slowly engages the clutch and then takes off.

Picked up our 206 TSI sedan (white with glass roof) on New Year's Eve. Clocked up 1000km already and really enjoying the car (first VW).
One query I have is with the ACC. It seems to detect vehicles in the adjacent right-hand lane, as well as vehicles directly in front. If the lane ahead is clear, but there is a vehicle in the adjacent right-hand lane (just ahead of me), the dash graphics show this and the ACC won't accelerate past it. Almost as if it's set not to overtake on the inside of another vehicle.
Anyone else experienced this? Any way to turn it off in the settings?
