Now you can take it to any VW specialist to get it done. I will take mine to Paul at 2/2 Dunlop st. South Strathfield when it is out of warranty.

VW replaced under warranty, eventhough the warranty had expired 4 weeks earlier.
Must have been a bad batch of water pumps, by the sounds of it.

I agree about the wheel size on Wolfies. After reading this thread and others, I have just replaced the 19" wheels fitted to mine with a set of used OEM 17x7 B8 Passat rims with 215/55R17 tyres which I found on ebay. I'm very happy with the result. Better ride, less bump steer, less jittery steering. I'll probably replace these tyres with 225/66R17's when these are worn out. The rolling diameter would then equal the 19" original tyres, give a slight increase in ground clearance, and perhaps even better ride.
Having read the above threads, I might have been even happier with 16" rims. Perhaps in the next life.

225/60R16 98Y is available in the Pirelli Cinturato P7 (Which is the same 19" tyre fitted to the wolfy and has the same load and speed index, so insurance should be fine as its the same rolling diameter). Might have issues fitting over the brakes?
