132TSI B8 1.8L - Performance Intake & Downpipe

Hi all. I’ve had a look online for an aftermarket intake and downpipe suitable for a Stage 2 tune on a 2016 Passat 132TSI 1.8. There’s literally nothing (when compared to GTIs) other than:

    Intake from sparesbox

    Downpipe (2 links)

CTS Turbo Gen3 TSI 1.8T/2.0T Exhaust Downpipe - CTS TURBO

    Anyone have any recommendations?
Or does anyone have any experience with tunes on the B8 1.8s? Cheers!

I wouldn’t be modifying a 132TSI. The transmission is basically at it’s torque limit already, and it’s never going to become a fast car.

+1 I'd be talking to tuners about the limits of the DQ200. You may be able to increase outputs a bit by also increasing clamping pressures in the gearbox but there's a reason why there aren't a lot of tuning options for these vehicles. You'll reach the limits of the hardware fairly quickly an then the only real option is to start with a new platform that doesn't have the same limitations.

Wow thanks lads I appreciate the input. I really didn’t know that. Will have to reconsider.

Very interesting to hear! Has put a dent in my plans

It’s the same gearbox used in the Polo GTI 6R 2011-2017 and these guys run into the same issues.

You can do a stage 1 tune OK but much more and you’re really pushing the limits of the gearbox.

But do your research and talk to a few tuners especially Gavin h100vw who has a fair bit of experience with that platform.

It’s the same transmission that is in my sons Polo GTi. The DSG version of the vehicle has 250nm of torque, the manual transmission version has 320nm.

My wife had a 132TSI comfortline before she bought her A4. If it were my money being spent on a 132TSI Passat I’d go with stance, wheels, that kind of thing. They are a very subtle, good looking car IMO and with some slight tweaks would look brilliant. Talk to an exhaust place about a different rear box if you want a slight growl, but just be happy with the straight line performance as it is.
    Cheers

Thanks. It’s a 2016 132tsi Comfortline R-Line with luxury pack and sunroof (and the good 206 R-Line wheels) so it has a fair bit of stance already. Was hoping for a tad more punch and some pops and bangs in sports mode at the least

The DQ200 can be tuned to handle 300kw and 420NM. To be safe, I'd then stick with just a stg 1 tune which on the 132TSI is about 170kw and 350NM, and still well within the limits of a tuned DQ200.

Yeah, the B8 hasn’t really taken the interest of the mod scene yet.
    Cheers
