Shift Solenoid open or short to ground

    Hello,
This is my first post, everyone on this forum seems super helpful so hoping someone can help with some advice on the following issue with my 2008 R36.
I have the following fault code –
    17135 - Shift Solenoid 1 (N88
P0751 - 000 -Open or Short to Ground - Intermittent - MIL ON
There is also a “Interference in Mechatronic Module” fault but hoping the 2 are related.
Has anyone had any experience with this one?
Looking for some help on how to check the solenoid without having to remove the mechatronic unit, is there an easier way to check the solenoid circuit?
Also looking for some recommendations for someone based in Melbourne(preferably can come to me) who may be able to come have a look and repair as needed?
    Thanks in advance

Shift solenoid 1 (N88 ) is the bottom centre solenoid when looking at the mechatronics with the connector at the top.
As it's logged a fault it's a pretty safe bet that it is faulty/failed.
You can't test it beyond that without removing the mechatronics.
You can replace the individual solenoids, a transmission specialist can do this. But it might be better to get a newer mechatronics from MY10 onwards as they are a newer microprocessor design and less prone to failure.

    Thanks Kamold,
Do you know of anywhere i might be able to get a replacement from? I have had a quick search and found some on ebay and some from America.

I don't know anyone that sells them retail locally.
You might be able to have a transmission specialist buy them for you if you already have a good relationship with them.

Hello Kamold, do you know if the MY10 will fit straight in? or is there some modifications that will be needed to adapt the unit?

Yes you can get a mechatronics from any R36 and install it. You need to run basic settings on the mechatronic with ODIS or VCDS etc.
If you get a mecha from another car the software will not be correct and it will need to first be flashed to R36 software so that the ratios etc are correct.
