gap in scuttle - water drips onto wires

The scuttle or gutter consists of 2 parts and there is a gap between part A and part B.

Is the gap normal or is the scuttle damaged?

When I wash the car, water goes through the gap and drips onto wires! I think at least 2 modules are damaged but I am not sure if this gap is the reason.

A better pic with the affected part marked might get better answers as impossible to tell anything from that pic

Does it also do it when it rains

It looks like its had a whack above the connectors as I would think it should be even and not have that kink in it

The bit nder the rubber seal looks to be corroded.

Plastic does not really corrode. I hope you can see the gap in the photo - almost exactly above the orange bit. Is such a gap in your Passat?

Ok what we are trying to say is that the piece that is level with the wiring is the sound insulation on the firewall and has lifted off but shouldn't make any difference

The rubber seal along the top should continue in a symmetrical fashion from one side to the other and it doesnt. It is high on the right side of the pic as if it has had a bash in the front of it and has raised it thereby creating a gap towards the centre of the car as you can see. It could be that water is getting in there because the bonnet cant close down onto the seal because of the high part .

Also the piece that the rubber seal is on is metal and can rust out under the seal so pull it up and have a look
You can see a clip on it to left of centre which shows its metal.
