It's a 1Z.. Im a Diesel Mechanic, and the easiest way to make the TDi work in the older car is to fit the AAZ mechanical fuel pump. Pump has to run one tooth advanced.

Ahh OK so you swapped it in? Cool. Not many m-tdis around.
I'm guessing as you are running advanced that you kept the Aaz internals on the pump.
For anyone buying, you could upgrade the pump with a larger head and TDI camplate for moar powaar.
To be honest, it doesn't need it. The pump is set up reasonably well, with a whisp of smoke under load and 5lt per 100. The power is there when needed.. I think Hamza was a little surprised how well it goes! There is another full set of teardrop alloys and a second gearbox that'll go with it when it sells....
Yes i was, being my first diesel and a turbo diesel at that, the torque was surprising!
It will also come with 3 months SA rego.
Price drop. $4600, but that's it. No offers. And it'll be here for a further two weeks. If it does not sell, it'll be relocated with us. :)
If my Mk3 VR6 sells this week I'll jump on this! Very very interested mate, I live and breathe Mk1 diesels and have wanted a turbo diesel for so long, so even being a Mk2 this is perfect
I have a Mk III Tdi with the 1Z (best in country too I say!). I can tell you that pump is not off a 1Z engine. The 1Z is a VE pump with an electrical connection to the ECU. It has no mechanical cables or springs on the top. That said the injector I can see in the #3 position does look like the 1Z injector with the needle lift sensor. Maybe its a 1Z with a different pump???
