    1980 B1 Passat diesel

I've had this B1 Passat for a few years but never got around to doing it up. I'm out of space now I've just picked up a nice Audi 100 CD from 1985!

The diesel starts and runs ok, the body is reasonably straight but there's a fair bit of rust and bog in it. The paint was once red but isn't glossy anymore (this photo was taken right after washing it). Also I've swapped the front seats and all door skins with my 1976 B1.

Any takers at $500? I'm in Brisbane's northwest area.

    Mike.

Come on you lot, don't make me send this thing to the crushers. Someone must want it! Any reasonable offer considered if it's going to a good home.....

The interior isn't worth looking at to be honest - now that I've pinched the door skins & front seats and swapped in the older looking ones from my '76 B1. This car is probably more suited as spare parts, but if someone was keen it could be restored I guess. I was going to... but the older I get the less keen I am on hard work so when I saw the 1985 Audi 100 in mint condition I grabbed it (without thinking where I could park it)... hence the B1 diesel must go.

If you send it to the crusher, please save the starter motor, assuming it is the same as a Diesel Golf one ?? I need one...

Karmen: Those are standard Passat steelies, 13" and unless you are really keen on rust removal it's a fair way off RWC. I did post this under "spare parts" originally but someone moved it to "cars for sale".

dubai gti: I think I have a spare starter for it - no idea if same as Golf Diesel but expect it is. If I scrap the car I'll keep the whole motor, someone might want it and at least it will fit in my garage. I just hate sending stuff like this to the crushers!

evorobin: Will keep gearbox too, the later B1s had a taller 4th gear than my 76 model, I think.

Ok last chance - any offer (including $0) accepted providing this thing goes to a good home or is used for parts. I'll be calling the crushers next!

it would probably be alright except the brake pedal is spongy and I haven't bothered bleeding the lines. It hasn't been driven for years, so anything could happen. I'd put it on a truck (that's how it got here).
