I had a WRX before the GTI and I used to change the oil every 5k so when I heard 15k on the GTI I was a bit surprised. The GTI used a fair bit of oil tho.

So I got the tune done today. Didn't really drive it much, just picked it up at lunch and drove back to work, .. My friend drove behind me and said my car puts out a bit of smoke when I step on it, I know some cars do this, but is it normal? I change the oil every 15 when it gets serviced. Should I change the oil more ofthen to get rid of the smoke?
Im happy with the way it goes so far :)
The smoke is most likely normal (though I don't see, how much of it). If your engine would be worn out and blowing smoke because of the late oil changes, it's too late now to start changing oil more often.
So if it is a normal amount of smoke, is it still a good idea to change oil, lets say every 5k?
What do you think?
I would think yes. You're getting more power through the drive train and the service interval of 15,000km/12 months is for normal driving conditions. You're now driving outside of the normal operating conditions, so I suggest 7,500km or 6 months. But, the final decision is of course yours, it's your car. :)
Well I am thinking the same thing, but I just wanted to see what you guys think as well :)
What your friend probably noticed was regular FSI fuel smoke :) - under load they tend to do this, stock, turbo charged or normally aspirated!
