We tune many Autronics, Motecs, Vipecs and Haltechs mainly on the Jap cars. I like the Autronics and Vipecs only because I"m quite familiar with them but the other guys opt for the Motec, quite a range in prices of course.
With the Euro's you can do a lot more with the factory ECU's these days so unless your doing something unique its often worth sticking with the factory ECU.
I've got a DTA S60 pro in my car. DTAfast S 60 PRO ECU
It's good for a mid level ecu, particularly in the way it interfaces to my dash and data logger.
Local tuners that are familiar with the system are hard to find.
If I did it again and I had a lot more money, I'd go Motec.
If I had the coin and I was building a super car MoTeC would be the go for sure!
MS3x is definitely a good ECU for the money. The software and the options it has makes it super easy for everything I need it to do thats for sure!

Stock ECU's from ME7.5 up are fantastic, but when you go from N/A to turbo it's not ideal for that application.
Can I ask what sort of cost the DTA S60 is Pete? have you had a crack at any of the tuning?
The S60 was $1650 with a set of plugs.
I made all the looms from scratch myself and all of the initial configuration.
I can tune it my self but because it's a race car it's not practical to tune while driving .
Tuning is pretty easy, because it has an Lambda sensor you can get the tune roughly right and then get it to generate a correction map.
After you've done that you can just run it closed loop.
For track use though I'd still tune on the dyno.
The S60 will work with all the stock sensors.
I've got mine running sequential ignition and injection working off the internal 60-2 VR pickup and an Audi V8 cam position sensor.
