XFORCE got the VIP treatment with the Darrell Lea STIX V8 Supercars team at the Clipsal 500.

Tim McMurray and a host of XFORCE dealers from South Australia got a tour of the high-tech pit garages with driver Will Davison and TEKNO Autosports owner Jonathon Webb. XFORCE begun their partnership with TEKNO in 2015 and is proud to have their logo on Davison’s #19 Holden VF Commodore for the 2016 season.

Davison had a solid debut weekend for his new team finishing 7th and 11th in Saturday’s races. On Sunday saw one of the craziest races in Clipsal 500 with torrential rain falling twice and at one stage causing the race to stop all together. Davison was running in second position when the cars were made to park in order in pitlane. But controversially every car was made to completely take their minimum fuel amount. Davison had to pit not once, but twice to get enough fuel on board. This saw him drop down to 15th by the end of the race.

The Clipsal 500 not only featured the V8 Supercars, but a plethora of racing categories including the V8 Utes which all run XFORCE exhaust systems. Holden Commodore ute driver David Sieders dominated the weekend, taking the win in races one and three to go with a fifth in race two. Fellow Holden driver Craig Dontas was on his rear bumper the whole weekend though, he placed second, sixth and third. Kris Walton was the best of the Ford drivers, his third, seventh and third placings meant he was third in points for the weekend.

TEKNO Autosports also had three McLaren 650S GT3s racing in the Australian GT Championship races at Clipsal. Webb shared one car alongside TV personality Grant Denyer. Another McLaren was driven by Nathan Antunes and Elliot Barbour while the third car was driven solo by Nathan Morcom. The team had an eventful weekend and was often towards the front of the field. Morcom finished second in the first race of the year while Antunes set a new record lap time on the way to a sixth placing. Webber and Denyer came home in 12th. Race two Morcom was again looking good until he was spun by Audi driver Christopher Mies while leading. He had to settle for 14th. Barbour too was running well until he overshot a corner following a safety car and couldn’t get the car started again. They finished 22nd. Denyer got his car from 11th at the start up to seventh but Webb brought it home in ninth. Race three on Sunday morning Morcom again found himself towards the front but slipped to ninth by race end. Denyer was running in second for the first seven laps of the race but co-driver Webb got tangled with another car which saw the pair slapped with a 17 second penalty. This pushed them down to 13th. Barbour’s McLaren had electrical problems mid-race. It did get started again but had to be garaged with just a couple of laps remaining.

TEKNO Autosports will have their next V8 Supercars and Australian GT rounds at the Australian Grand Prix on March 18-20.
