Wierd 'whining' sound on cold startup

G'day all,
Got a question about my MY15 Golf GTI PP.
When I start the car first thing in the morning, it makes a weird whining/grinding sound for about 1-2 seconds after which it disappears. It only seems to occur when the engine is cold and it sounds like its coming from the engine bay and has done it ever since I've had it.
It's my first time owning a VW and it makes all sorts of funny clicking noises when I turn it off (I think they are pumps/relays ect.) but this one is a bit concerning.

Can anyone tell me what the sound is, and if its a problem?

Some ABS modules do a self test when you start the car which makes a grinding vibration. Could be this?

Same with my GTi, took it to the Dealer who said there were no abnormal noises but that 1-2 second startup noise is normal for this engine. Giving it another 1,000km to see if it goes away (only done 1500km). Not very happy about it as I would give someone else's car a "WTF" glance if I heard it from theirs.

I have the same model engine as you guys in my Octavia 3 vRS and mine does the exact same thing. I am sure it's normal.

I was told the whining noise upon start up was the high pressure fuel pump.

This is on the R thought, not sure if same for GTi/GTi-PP

I have a 90tsi and mine also makes an unusual whine on start up - it's always done it.
