A great answer as always! However given that it's a Clubsport there are no fog lights to use so I presume the suggested alternative is not possible in my car and I do have to mess with the Leuchte channels indeed? Is there any other way to have only DRL's on for CH/LH? Probably not as you would have suggested it already...

Ringo: My bad- I wasn't aware that you had a Clubsport mk7 or its options (strange that your car has the sophistication of HIDs and the leveling mechanism, but it doesn't have fogs- but then the boffins at VW do some strange things).

Anyhow - instead of me suggesting an answer, I have borrowed the instructions from the tweak
For ease of reference, I enclose the table below which is taken from the link:

Instructions: DRL only for Coming Home/Leaving Home (without Low-beam lamps)

1. Select 09 - Central Elect. control module
2. Select Security Access - 16 from the "Open Controller" screen
3. Enter the magic number 31347 and return to the "Open Controller" screen
4. Select Adaptation - 10 from the "Open Controller" screen
5. From the pull-down button check that the default values for the adaptation channels are as shown in the table below for the OLD SETTING column (use the "Search" box to locate the correct channels)
6. Only if the check in (5) above is successful, change the values for the adaptation channels as depicted in the table below in the NEW SETTING column (use the "Search" box to locate the correct channels)

The tweak instructions are for a North-American-Region vehicle (not our Rest-of-Word model), but this doesn't matter. Simply use the LAMP column to select which lights you want to alter. For example, you can elect to retain the center-dots involvement in CH/LH function by not making changes to Leuchte4FL LB4 and Leuchte5FL RB32 channels - it's entirely your choice!

It's of course an untested tweak, but my reading of the instructions is that they appear to be compatible with your request.

Wow that's a serious tweak! I'll try to find the time and do it over the coming days and report back.

The fog lights get deleted on the Clubsport because of the aerodynamic design of the front bumper. Where the standard GTI has fog lights, the Clubsport has these so called air curtains that divert the air around the front wheels. That doesn't mean there are no boffins in general in VW...

Personally I quite like it as its both a sportier look and I hate it when different types of lights (with different color temp) are installed at the front or rear of any car, it almost looks aftermarket to me. And I doubt fog lights would offer any extra benefit than the DRL's already do under foggy conditions.

Ok, so I tried it yesterday. I basically only messed with the first two low beam channels Leuchte6ABL and 7ABL (the dot LED and U leds were already part of the CH/LH function and I wanted it to stay that way). Worked as expected: Headlights now stay off every time I unlock the car, only the U and dot leds are illuminating, job done!

Hi folks
This is my first “post” so hopefully it goes in the right thread..
I have a 2015 E-Golf North American version (NAR) and want to replace the tail light with OEM EURO tail light – NOT LED to get amber turn signal. There are lots of writing on the net about LED conversion but I could not find exactly my problem.
I used this link as guide:

I have purchased EURO tail light - (outer left and outer right ROW version) and installed them onto the car - no changes to: inner left and inner right tail light.
I only changed the cable pin configuration for the outer tail lights and programmed “leuchte” A71, C8 and C6

My main problem after the conversion: when I hit the brake, both amber blinkers(A71&C8) act as a brake light.

Here is what I did on left side:
Stock outer tail light (NAR) cable has 3 cables/pins:
1. Red (A71) in PIN 1 (combined brake/turn signal/ park…)
2.GND in PIN 2
3. C6 in PIN 4 – Red side marker LED

I repinned the left & right cables to a new configuration to match the EURO outer tail light – non LED and changed values in VCDS
New configuration:
1. Red (A71) into PIN3 (amber turn signal) – programmed A71 as turn signal in VCDS
2. GND stays in PIN 2
3. C6 into PIN 1 to become brake and driving tail light. – (programmed C6 as brake light and park/running light)

Idid the same changes for the right side (C8)

So what is happening on the outer tails.
1. Amber section of the Euro tail light works nice as a blinker(A71&C8) – as it should
But when I hit the brake, both amber blinkers(A71&C8) lights up together with the red brake light in C6, so there is 2 “brake” lights in the outer tail light – one red and one amber.

2. The red section (C6) have some issues also. Light comes on but blink and dies out when turning on the light switch on the dash. If I touch the brake – the red light (C6)will stay on – as they should and they work fine.
(the reason can be two pcs W21W bulbs on the same line(C6) probably solved if I use LED 7440 instead.


So to sum up:Light (A71 and C6) both show the brake light - but A71 is only programmed as turn signal - se coding underneath.
The strange ting is this. The E-Golf has a ECO B-mode (regenerative braking) on the gear shifter.
If the car is in B-Mode it will turn on the brake signal automatically if you lift the foot of the accelerator and when it does – the brake signals works perfect – no light in the amber section (A71) - just brake signal in C6 lamp - so the B-mode understand my programming and repinning of the cable/wires


So everything is working perfect except when I hit the brake pedal.

Is there a problem using Leuchte A71 as a turn signal only? Is A71 & C8 tied to the brake system? - I see other people has shown programming examples A71 & C8 as turn signal, but I do not know if they have had success.



Any idea what I can do to solve the problem?
My hope is to avoid wiring from dashboard/BCM to the tail or open up the hatch and take turnsignal from (C10)



Appreciate if somebody can help.

I've had a quick look through your Leuchte-sets and I don't believe that the continued operation of the brake function on the turn signal lamps is due to any of the settings for the Leuchte channels.

Rather, I suspect that the solution lies in the code-string for the BCM (not in the adaptation channels in the BCM). However, I fear that VCDS will be of little help in solving this problem! Don't get me wrong, I think that VCDS is a most excellent tool, but (for some reason) there are many Byte/Bits in the long coding helper screens missing their function descriptions.

Nevertheless, I can suggest a way forward - if you can get access to an OBDeleven dongle. Not sure if you are familiar with this device, but I wrote a explanation HERE which may be of interest.

OBD11 handles "long coding" a little different to VCDS, but it appears to be more informative when identifying the function of Byte/Bts for control modules. Unfortunately though, the screens that OBD11 uses for the "long coding" descriptors, don't identify the Byte/Bit numbers (i.e. there are no "tick boxes" next to the Bits as per the long coding helper screens in VCDS).

So - I suspect that the way to solve your problem is to disable the Btye/Bit that I have surrounded in the yellow box in the screen shot below, which is from the "long coding" part of OBD11. I suspect on your mk7, the entry for this Byte/Bit is Yes (on my RoW car, the entry is "No"). Alas, as you can see there is no Byte/Bit number on the picture to translate to the long-coding screens on VCDS!

You might even consider buying an OBD11 device - they aren't that expensive!

EDIT: Whilst I still think that the process outlined above is the proper way of fixing your problem - if you aren't able to access an OBD11 dongle, perhaps it might be possible to "neutralize" the boxed Byte/Bit setting in the screen-shot above?

This is an entirely untested suggestion, but if you include the Leuchte command for the Brake-light into the 2 x Leuchte-sets for the blinkers and you attach a dimming level of zero to this command - perhaps this will counter the effect of the coding Byte/Bit. Not sure, but it's a simple change - so worth a try (I think)
