    Project 145TSI

Not a lot of love for the lower spec Golfs on this forum ..... that is a bit surprising as I think the lower Golfs are such good cars.

I bought a new 110TSI Trendline Manual a year ago now as a general run-around (mainly because the Mustang is so ridiculously heavy on fuel ) It is to become my daughters car at the end of this year, so was restricted to P plate friendly models and no DSG in a base Golf .... ever!

Anyway, after a year of truly enjoyable and trouble free motoring, its become time to spice it up a bit. Some mods are finally happening The goal was to get to 150kw (150TSI) but it looks like I'll be restricted to 145kw only ....

    So, stock 110TSI

    Project 145TSI-inkedimg_2934_li-jpg

Stg 1 OEM+ tune resulted in 138kw/290NM ... Thanks to Guy at HP and their Christmas sale!

    Project 145TSI-inkedecu_li-jpg

Forge Motorsport Diverter Valve fitted (sadly no performance increase, just silly blow-off valve noises .... which I like)

    Project 145TSI-img_3054-jpg

MST CAI fitted claimed 7kw/10NM in it) resulting in my target of 145kw/300NM.

    Still to do:

SuperNova LED headlights and a TIP.

At ~150kw/300NM I'm about matching the MK5/MK6 GTIs and in a 110TSI that results in quite a nice daily driver.

    Sounds like a good start!

Any suspension/handling mods planned? Some sport springs & swaybar might be a good step

They're regulars in the show scene in Europe as the money saved on a higher end Golf is put into the mods (admittedly often more cosmetic).

Sounds like a nice clean upgrade and you know Guy does a quality product.

    Can we get some wheels..

Nice work. I agree there's untapped potential in the base model.

Maybe pick up some stock GTI springs.

Have you run the car on a dyno for before/after or just going off the butt dyno?

Interested if you do see an increase with the intake.

What are the clutches like in the manual? I think the base Golf in manual has a certain attraction.

This is a nice little sleeper. A 110TSI that runs with (stock) GTI's ...

The turbo on this is so small, that there is little benefit in going with a larger exhaust. Though a better downpipe with a high flow cat will liberate a few more KWs .... might be the 5 I'm looking for ...

The handling is pretty good for a base hatch, and I don't want to fit anything I can't remove myself, so no springs, but swaybars is definitely in the future.

    As is wheels ... obviously

EDIT, fitted the MST intake and it now has a little growl to it ... and perhaps those extra horses I was promised
