From that photo it looks like its coming from above the oil level sensor and running down. Give it a clean off with some degreaser or brake cleaner and check it again in a few hundred km's.
Hey folks, just want to confirm if anyone knows if this is the course of the oil leak. It looks like it but not sure if it could be coming from anywhere else above this item.

Yeah I think you are right. Looks like my sump is leaking as this is higher than the sensor. I’m hoping it’s just spray from the sensor. I’ve ordered a new O ring for the sensor. Is fitting a new sump a big job if it is this?
Cheers mate.

Update. Managed to get a photo from the back. Looks like it’s the oil pan.

It's not the level sensor. The sump has a rubber seal. Easy enough to take out the T30s and refit. Need to drop the oil though.
Thanks for that. I nearly bought a new sensor but when I took the photos from the back I could see all the oil from the seal.
Would it be worth replacing the whole pan or just a reseal?

VW diagnoses, sump gasket. With all the other little parts and fresh oil $900.

$900 to replace a rubber gasket that's easy to get to - holy moly!! You can get a steel sump pan kit for these - would have been a good opportunity to install one of those. Vtech MQB Steel Oil Pan (Sump) Conversion Kit - 06J103600AFKT– V-tech Australia | European Performance

I know. This will be the first time in 5 years that I will be using the main steeler. They showed me the list of parts and prices. Including oil, oil filter and about 4 little gaskets which one is the lower timing chain gasket came too about $300. They put down for a 4 hour job. They are also going to stamp my service book and call it a service at the same time. The only reason I went to VW was that they saw me at such short notice.
