    R Wagon aftermarket Wheels and Tyres in 18x8.5

    Hi Golfers,Basically, I see the merit of going from the VW OEM 19-inch wheels and getting five of the 18-inch wheels and new Tyres which are due after 36,000ks.
    So, after doing a bit of research online etc. I dropped into Bob Jane Springwood and spoke to the manager Jim Holden.
    Jim quoted quite well as follows;
    Motegi Racing Mr145 Traklite 18X8.5 5X112/42 Matte Black {NOT the Bronze} for $280 each x five $1,400.
    And they are supplying hub rings and lug bolts, lock nuts, as the manufacturer requirement for warranty.

    And Tyres Michelin PS5 235/40R18 for $235 each x five $1,175.
    Total $1,400 and $1,175 = $2,575 less $100 deal = $2,475 fitted & balanced (as early as next week).

    I think it is a fair package and price for a set of five wheels and tyres.

    BJ offered me $500 trade in for my VW Spielberg's 4, wheels. Put them up for $1000 and SOLD that afternoon with two others wanting them.

    Ended up getting the set of 4 not 5. All fitted and balanced, aligned for $1690. So cost me $690.
    Took a drive to Mt Glorious, Fernvale for pub lunch, then Costco Bundamba for 98 fuel stop $198 pl, then home.
    The Michelin PS5 235/40R18 are very good and so quite, do not turn in as well as the OEM Contis but that maybe because Contis do not grip as well as the Michelin PS5s which grip so much they insist on going straight ahead.

    Cheers Al

    Hi Al, where did you get the wheels and tyres for $1690? Seems like a good deal
