No heat from climate control - MY13 Golf 103TSI

Any clues what I should be looking for/at if I can't get the heater blowing hot air?
Car is relatively new (for me) - never had to use the heater since I got it so I've only just noticed now that the mornings are getting cooler.
My 2017 Tiguan blows warm air after < 5 mins. The Golf has run for 10mins+ and nothing warmer than ambient air comes out.

Burst silicon bag (in coolant reservoir) caused blockage in heater matrix ?

Is the coolant temp rising as per normal ? (mine is warm within a couple of minutes).

I assume a blocked heater matrix is one of the NOT cheap issues to resolve (i.e. disassemble the dash ...)

Coolant temp rises as normal - no signs of leak inside the cabin or out.

Yeah, fixing a blocked heater matrix is not a cheap job.

Another possibility is the directional vanes (that control where the heat goes) aren't working properly.

    Any error codes recorded ?

    No codes - but I don't have OBD/VCDS

it's odd - or perhaps not - the more I use it the faster it seems to start working
