7R- I believe he's right about 45k haldex service. I had mine done at 3rd service at 30k km.

I paid $170 for scan to tell me it's haldex pump fault and needed replacing. Quoted $1400 by VW to repair so your $900 from VW specialist good price. Just hope you don't have issues with getting haldex. Software which is needed for new pump.

Good luck with it. Hopefully gets repaired smoothly for you.

Justin Cavanagh at Sydney City VW (Botany) has always been great when my clutch pack needed doing or sorting DSG updates etc on my Mk6 118. The rest of the service dept can be pretty hit and miss but he's always been super helpful getting VGA to sort it out

    Thanks both,

I just checked the log book and unfortunately Haldex oil not changed at 3yr/45k service. I will just go ahead and get it fixed.

Picked up my new Grid DSG late today and it’s a cracking drive, well sorted, super fast gear shifts and hugs the road (more nimble than my S3). The only thing missing at this stage are DSG farts on up shift (am trying not rev too high at this early stage), hoping they appear as it’s run in (?).

General consensus is you need to change into Sport or Individual Mode with Sports shifting every time you start up to get shifting braps. Just leaving it in Sport all the time isn't good enough apparently. I reckon it might be an EPA thing regarding noise pollution . . . .

Does anyone know if there were any suspension changes between the Mk7 R and the Mk7. 5 R?

Takes a bit for the exhaust to settle, you will get your first burbles through Race mode and then as time goes by you get the first dsg fart. I would say mine occurred at around 1400km as it was opened up hard on a boost to show off to the wife. Never forget that moment though.
When yours is run in it will fart and burp to your delight, just add boost!!!
and yes the S3 is a different drive and that’s why I prefer the R.

Cheers for that Slin, that’s a relief as not even a hint of a fart so far, I think because the gear shifts are so fast/smooth! Looking forward to it as I loved the farts on my S3 (which funnily enough seemed a bit slower to shift; had a bit more lag and didn’t hug the road like the R)

Picked up my manual Golf R Grid this morning, haven't been able to get the sh*t eating grin off my face all day. What a beast!
