MK7.5 How to remove front grill and bumper???

    Hello,

I was wondering since Golf mk7.5 R has the radar under the emblem, unlike mk7, how to remove the grill so the bumper can be removed? Apparently the radar has to be disconnected or removed or is there another trick or way of doing it?

I have seen this post but no more info was provided Front Grill removal Golf R Wolfsburg and Mk7.5

    Any help would be appreciated.

SloAu: Hi. I don't know the answer to your question, but you should be aware that if you are referring to the radar sensor (J428 ) that's involved in the Adaptive Cruise Control facility, reinstalling the unit may require re-calibration.

On the previous model mk7s, re-adjustment of J428 is required when:

    • The adaptive cruise control unit - J428- has been removed and reinstalled,
    • The front bumper support has been removed and installed.
    • The front bumper support has become loose or has been moved.

I would think (though I'm not sure) that the same applies for a mk7.5 - can someone here confirm?

The problem with re-calibration of J428 for a DIY project is that it requires an ACC reflector mirror (the VW tool number is VAS 6430/3). I'm guessing that you don't own one of these - so a trip to your friendly dealer is likely

Thanks Don, basically I don't want to touch the radar since a want to get a mesh between all the coolers and the bumper.

The grilles should just pop out from the front.

    Hi SloAu,
I found US info at link below useful for front grille & bumper removal, but grille needs a fairly firm pull outwards & upwards to get off, a bit more effort than for mk6. If grille/bumper reassembly is done accurately, the ACC sensor probably won't need to be reset, but a visit to dealer will be needed if alignment is not very close to/exactly the same as for initial factory assembly.

Massive thanks goes to enufz. I won't share the details since he didn't want to post them in the first place.

MK7.5 How to remove front grill and bumper???

You just get your less than perfect partner to drive into a letter box then chuck it in reverse when it’s hooked on said letter box and it comes right off.
