Map & firmware updates for GTI 7.5

Hi All

This is my second post, I had my GTI 7.5 15000km service today and the software was updated. The dealer said whilst under warranty, the updates are not charged, once out of warranty, the cost is approx $200. The service took 5 hours. Is there a way that I can check if there are any updates for the maps and firmware and do it myself?
