Question Golf R 7.5 Wagon Exhaust Advice

    Hi All,

Was wondering if anyone could share some advice / experience,

I recently bought a Golf R 7.5 Wagon which already had a Milltek non-resonated catback installed.

Whilst I really enjoy a lot of the crackle and noise on the overrun and when driving hard, it can be a bit boomy/intrusive when driving in sports mode around town. Particularly when under load ~2k-~3k revs.

Ideally I'd like to reduce the volume and boom. Would people suggest getting a spare Milltek centre silencer replacement instead of the current straight through pipe (~$700) or would it be easier to just get a exhaust shop to fabricate a hotdog resonator or silencer to turn the volume down a bit?

    Any thoughts much appreciated.

    Cheers.

I'd get the Milltek resonated centre section. It is matched to the rest of the exhaust to work perfectly. If you get somebody else to make you something, it will never be perfect and probably ruin the sound. Be a waste of the entire system then.

I have Milltek on the R, Amarok, Up! and the A1. Up! and A1 has resonated centers and they are awesome. R does not have are resonator but has no drone and sounds insanely good. Amarok has no resonator and has quite a bit of drone. Tried to get local specialist exhaust shop to add in a resonator and while it has less drone it also lost a lot of quality sound ....

    Thanks Sharkie,

    Appreciate the advice / feedback.

Ill see if can source the Milltek center section vs custom.
