Hey I have a mk7 that has been serviced outside of vw. How do I find out what the latest firmware for the dsg and motor ( if there has been updates ) for a late 2014 mk7 r .

You'll need to get a VCDS autoscan of your car (or obd11) to determine the hardware and software part numbers. Then you can check on VAG-Flashfiles Information
But don't just go flashing stuff just because you find a newer file.
You want to check if there is a TPI that says you should update to a certain version.
For that you need a dealer to check their online systems.
