Cold Air Intake - 2016 MY17 Golf GTI 40 Years

Been pondering as to which Cold Air Intake on a MQB Platform EA888 engine as is in my MY17 GTI 40 Years.

Have always liked the Racingline R600 with Cotton Filter as it looks like factory ..... the previous owner swapped in a HG Motorsport HF Series3 Carbon Fibre with PiperCross Cotton Filter - - look of the carbon fibre doesn't phase me as you only see it when the bonnet is open.

So wondering what others think of these 2 options and which one they'd choose.

Cold Air Intake - 2016 MY17 Golf GTI 40 Years

Out of those 2 options, for me I would definitely stick with the HG Motorsport intake. I like a bit of under bonnet bling. The only thing I dont like about the HG intake is the carbon fibre intake pipe - these almost always crack eventually.

A friend had the Racingline on his Mk7 R and to me it was a bit boring (but looks stock so can understand the appeal for some people) and is a lot of money for some moulded plastic. If you do go with the Racingline then most definitely get the new cotton filter as the foam filters fall apart after a few years and are very messy with the oil.

Anther option is the Integrated Engineering intake. Looks more like the HG Motorsport intake though. I have the Integrated Engineering intake with the carbon lid on my Mk7 GTI and its beautiful.

I’ve got the Forge intake, it’s nice bling... mainly purchased as the racing line was OOS and I didn’t want the open pod filter look of some of the other options.

Forge sounds good for Choo-Choo noises

Cold Air Intake - 2016 MY17 Golf GTI 40 Years-img20191220122728-jpgI just went with Eventuri ,was it worth it ,who knows . But on full throttle it sounds great .
If I was to do it again , I would go with a set up in the Gti TCR cars and save some coin

    Cheers

Life has interfered with progressing this swap to the R600 but back on it (hopefully).
Anyone out there interested in the HG Motorsport - car has only done about 5000klms since it was installed - got all the paperwork (installation instructions and certificate of authenticity)
