Patching non-nav units / activating sports HMI

Hi,

I have a 2017 Polo GTI which is heaps of fun and I would like to unlock the remaining supported features, like sports HMI. I used OBDEleven to install the FEC/SWaP code for this feature but it shows up as invalid because the unit has to be patched first.

I've googled extensively but I can't find anything that applies to my unit specifically. The instructions require units with navigation (2 SD card slots) and mine doesn't have nav (only 1 SD card slot). Could someone help me understand if it's even possible to patch this hardware, and if so point me in the right direction please? It would be much appreciated.

You need to read and write directly to the eMMC flash on the board to modify the system to allow unsigned FEC.
That requires opening it up and using using a suitable adapter soldered onto the board to be able to mount the file system, or read and write in raw format.
